By The Numbers: UFC 312 Pre-Fight Edition

Two titles will be up for grabs when the Ultimate Fighting Championship touches down in Australia this Saturday at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. Dricus Du Plessis defends his undisputed middleweight crown against Sean Strickland in the five-round UFC 312 headliner, while Weili Zhang puts her undisputed women’s strawweight championship on the line against Tatiana Suarez in the five-round co-main event.

Ahead of UFC 312 “Du Plessis vs. Strickland 2,” a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the docket bring to the table:

12: Consecutive calendar years in which Du Plessis has fought at least once. He went 3-0 in 2013, 1-1 in 2014, 3-0 in 2015, 2-0 in 2016, 2-0 in 2017, 1-1 in 2018, 2-0 in 2019, 1-0 in 2020, 1-0 in 2021, 2-0 in 2022, 2-0 in 2023 and 2-0 in 2024.

200,000: Dollars in post-fight bonuses banked by Strickland across his 22 assignments in the UFC. The Xtreme Couture export has been awarded “Performance of the Night” three times and “Fight of the Night” once.

35: Years of age for Zhang. The oldest fighter on the card, she was born on Aug. 13, 1989 in Handan, China.

25: Takedowns completed by Suarez as a UFC women’s strawweight, tying her with Zhang for fourth on the promotion’s all-time list at 115 pounds. Only Carla Esparza (49), Claudia Gadelha (36) and Lupita Godinez (28) have been credited with more.

7: Justin Tafa wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 100% of his career total (seven). His list of UFC victims: Austen Lane, Parker Porter, Harry Hunsucker and Juan Adams. Tafa confronts Tallison Teixeira in a three-round heavyweight showcase.

100: Percent finish rate for Teixeira. In fact, he has stopped all seven of his opponents inside one round, two of them in less than a minute. Teixeira punched out Caio Rebelo in 30 seconds under the Pantanal Fight Championship banner in 2021 and did the same to Fernando Kato in 24 seconds under the Standout Fighting Tournament flag in 2022.

83: Seconds needed for Jimmy Crute to dispose of Ben Kelleher with an arm-triangle choke at a Hex Fight Series show on June 23, 2017. Nearly eight years later, it remains his fastest finish to date. Crute toes the line against Rafael Bellato in a three-round light heavyweight attraction.

2: Losses on the Bellato resume, both to the same man. He succumbed to first-round punches from Vitor Petrino at a Max Fight event in May 2019, then bowed to punches from the CM System rep in the second round of their Dana White’s Contender Series rematch a little more than three years later.

8: Jake Matthews victories by submission, accounting for 40% of his career total (20). His methods of choice: six rear-naked chokes, one triangle choke and one triangle armbar. Matthews faces American Top Team’s Francisco Prado in a three-round welterweight feature.

22: Years of age for Prado. The youngest fighter on the card, he was born on June 16, 2002 in San Lorenzo, Argentina.

.829: Cumulative winning percentage between the 24 fighters slated to compete at the event. They boast a combined record of 287-58-3. Strickland has the most wins (29) of anyone on the card, while Matthews has been saddled with the most losses (seven).
