The Insane Prop Bets of UFC 234

UFC 234 is now available on Amazon Prime.

UFC 234 on Saturday in Melbourne, Australia, was filled with victorious favorites, and many posted wins in the manner in which oddsmakers predicted. As a result, it did not see crazy prop bets cash like past Ultimate Fighting Championship events. Nevertheless, there were a number of profitable props to hit at Rod Laver Arena.

Jim Crute Wins in Round 1 (+550)

Crute knocked out Sam Alvey in the first round of their light heavyweight feature. Some saw it as an early stoppage, but two sizeable Crute props cashed. First, the prop on Crute winning by knockout scored at +421 odds, and second, the prop on his winning in the first round hit at +550. That was the single-biggest prop bet on the entire card to pay out for bettors.

Montana De La Rosa Wins in Round 2 (+500)

One of the top performers at UFC 234 was De La Rosa, who dominated Nadia Kassem with her ground game to win via second-round stoppage. De La Rosa looks like she is one of the top young flyweights in the sport right now, and if she continues to round out her game, she could emerge as a title contender sooner rather than later. For now, the prop on De La Rosa winning in the second round cashed out at +500 odds.

Kyung Ho Kang Wins in Round 1 (+275)

One of the better matches on the card saw Kang and Teruto Ishihara bite down on their mouthpieces and chuck bombs, until the latter fell to the mat and was submitted. It was one of the better performances of Kang’s stay in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and he asked the UFC for a ranked opponent in his next outing. The prop on Kang winning in the first round cashed at +275.

Lando Vannata Wins via Submission (+250)

The co-main event was not supposed to feature Vannata-Marcos Rosa Mariano, but that was what happened once the deck was reshuffled; and like the odds suggested, it was a blowout. Mariano had no prior UFC experience and had compiled a mediocre record on the Brazilian regional scene, so even though Vannata had been struggling, he was still a hefty favorite at the sportsbooks to emerge victorious. It was difficult to peg just how he would win, though, and the prop on his winning by submission was available at +250. That cashed for anyone who had the foresight to put money on it.

Israel Adesanya Wins by Decision (+218)

The UFC 234 headliner saw Adesanya use his striking skills to best idol Anderson Silva via unanimous decision. No surprise there, as Adesanya was a heavy betting favorite at the sportsbooks. However, most figured he would find a way to knock out Silva, but he could not get the job done in that regard. Instead, he won a decision, an outcome that was deemed unlikely at the books. The prop on Adesanya cashed at +218, so bettors who figured he may have a bit too much respect for Silva and would go the full three rounds cashed a nice bet.
