Age and pro MMA experience
When Krylov made his pro debut on July 27, 2012, Teixeira was less than three months away from his UFC 153 showdown with fellow countryman Fabio Maldonado. That was Teixeira's 21st professional fight. To trace his career back to his very first bout, one would have to go as far back as June 7, 2002, when he was knocked out by Eric Schwartz at the third installment of World Extreme Cagefighting. Since then, he has fought for various promotions and has amassed a career mark of 29-7.
Like Teixeira, Krylov has also fought for a number of promotions,
fighting in his home country of Ukraine for his first 15 bouts. He
stepped out of his motherland for the first time as a fighter when
he fought at M-1 Challenge 38 in Russia. After that, he was signed
by the UFC, and since his debut with the promotion he has put
together a UFC record of 7-4 and an overall career mark of
25-6.
Wins by knockout
There are 27 knockouts between the two light heavyweights, 17 of which are owned by Teixeira. That’s not surprising for a man who trained extensively under accomplished former professional boxer John Hackleman and alongside UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell. Teixeira has floored five opponents in the UFC: Rashad Evans, Ryan Bader, Fabio Maldonado, Misha Cirkunov and Patrick Cummins. Outside of the promotion, Teixeira’s list of knockout victims includes the likes of Ricco Rodriguez, Marvin Eastman and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.Despite Teixeira’s knockout prowess, Krylov’s 10 knockouts should not be overlooked, especially as he has been able to starch some very tough competition like Walt Harris, Fabio Maldonado, Ed Herman and Stanislav Nedkov.
Wins by submission
In addition to the power that he possesses in his hands, Teixeira also possesses a second degree black belt in jiu-jitsu; he is as dangerous on the ground as he is on the feet. The head of Teixeira MMA and Fitness owns eight submission victories, five of which occurred in the UFC against Ovince St. Preux, James Te Huna, Kyle Kingsbury, Ion Cutelaba and Karl Roberson.Krylov may not have the same jiu-jitsu acumen as his adversary, but he does have a Master of Arts in Submission Fighting back in Ukraine. The man they call “The Miner” owns a total of 15 submission victories. In the UFC, Krylov has submitted Ovince St. Preux, Francimar Barroso, Marcos Rogerio de Lima and Stanislav Nedkov.
Losses by stoppage
All six of Krylov’s losses have been stoppages. He has been tapped out five times and knocked out once. Teixeira, meanwhile, has been finished three times in his career, and all three times he suffered either a KO or a TKO.Related Articles
