Neither Anthony Smith nor Devin Clark expected to bear the brunt of the Ultimate Fighting Championship limelight, but in the midst of a pandemic, situations can change in a hurry.

Thanks to a positive COVID-19 test on Curtis Blaydes and subsequent cancellation of the original headliner, Smith and Clark will meet in the UFC on ESPN 18 main event this Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Operating out of the esteemed Factory X camp in Colorado, Smith finds himself on the rebound after back-to-back losses to Glover Teixeira and Aleksandar Rakic. Clark, meanwhile, enters the cage on the strength of consecutive victories over Dequan Townsend and Alonzo Menifield.

As UFC on ESPN 18 approaches, a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the card have generated to this point:

5: Post-fight bonuses pocketed by Smith across his 14 appearances in the UFC. The former Cage Fury Fighting Championships titleholder has been awarded “Performance of the Night” four times and “Fight of the Night” once, resulting in $300,000 of additional income.

8: Decisions victories for onetime Resurrection Fighting Alliance champion Devin Clark, who boasts a perfect 8-0 record in bouts that have reached the judges.

78: Combined wins between the three men—Ryan Pokryfky, Tony Lopez and Brett Martin—who have beaten Josh Parisian. However, 64 of those victories belong to Lopez, one of MMA’s ultimate journeymen.

35: Years of age for Parker Porter. The oldest fighter on the card, he was born on April 22, 1985 in Hartford, Connecticut. 7: Miguel Baeza wins by knockout or technical knockout, providing him with 78% of his professional total (nine). His first two UFC assignments have resulted in second-round TKOs against Hector Aldana and Matt Brown.

3: Sub-minute finishes on the Takashi Sato ledger. The Pancrase veteran punched out Yasuaki Miura in 29 seconds at a Tribe Tokyo Fight show in November 2014, cut down Masayuki Hamagishi with elbows and punches in 52 seconds at a Grandslam MMA event in March 2018 and disposed of Jason Witt with punches in 48 seconds at UFC on ESPN 12 on June 27.

6: Submission victories for former Ring of Combat and CFFC champion Bill Algeo, accounting for 46% of his career total (13). His methods of choice: five rear-naked chokes and one arm-triangle choke. Algeo has three other wins by knockout or technical knockout.

7: Promotions in which Spike Carlyle has competed as a professional mixed martial artist. He has gone 3-0 in California Cage Wars, 1-1 in the UFC, 1-1 in California Xtreme Fighting, 1-0 in Gladiator Challenge, 1-0 in Combate Americas, 1-0 in the Legacy Fighting Alliance and 1-0 in Lights Out Xtreme Fighting.

24: Years of age for Su Mudaerji. The youngest fighter on the card, he was born on Jan. 20, 1996 in Tibet, China.

.733: Cumulative winning percentage between the 20 fighters scheduled to compete at UFC on ESPN 18. They hold a combined record of 228-83. Smith owns the most wins (33) and losses (16) of any fighter on the card. Advertisement
