By The Numbers: Jamahal Hill vs. Khalil Rountree

Only so much room exists near the top of the Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight division.

Onto that prime real estate will step Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree when they lock horns in the UFC on ABC 8 main event this Saturday at Baku Crystal Hall in Baku, Azerbaijan. It marks the promotion’s debut in the landlocked country. Hill enters the cage on the heels of back-to-back losses. He last saw action at UFC 311, where he succumbed to punches from Jiri Prochazka in the third round of their Jan. 18 pairing. Rountree, meanwhile, has rattled off five wins in six outings. However, he finds himself on the rebound following a fourth-round technical knockout loss to then-champion Alex Pereira at UFC 307 on Oct. 5.

As Hill and Rountree move ever closer to their forthcoming showdown at 205 pounds, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

Mariah Carey’s “I Don’t Wanna Cry,” Cathy Dennis’ “Touch Me (All Night Long),” Extreme’s “More Than Words,” Hi-Five’s “I Like The Way (The Kissing Game)” and Rod Stewart’s “Rhythm of My Heart” were the Top 5 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 list at the time.

7: Hill victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 58% of his career total (12). His list of UFC victims: Thiago Santos, Johnny Walker, Jimmy Crute and Ovince St. Preux. Hill holds five other victories by decision (42%).

232: Significant strikes landed by Hill in the five-round unanimous decision over Glover Teixeira that brought him the undisputed light heavyweight championship at UFC 283 on Jan. 21, 2023. It established a personal high-water mark for “Sweet Dreams” that stands to this day.

200,000: Dollars in post-fight bonuses banked by Hill across his 10 appearances in the UFC. He has been awarded “Fight of the Night” on two occasions and “Performance of the Night” on two others.

.772: Cumulative winning percentage between the three opponents—Prochazka, Pereira and Paul Craig—who have beaten Hill. They boast a combined record of 60-17-2.

39: Seconds needed for Rountree to punch out Blake Troop under the Resurrection Fighting Alliance banner on Dec. 5, 2014. More than a decade later, it remains his fastest finish to date.
