You asked and we found the answers. “Ask the TUF Crowd” gives
you the chance to throw your burning questions to the cast
following each episode of “The Ultimate Fighter 10.”
This is a two-parter for big Wes Shivers. When they announced the decision, weren’t you shocked? You clearly won the first round. And if you watched the fight tonight, what were your thoughts on your overall performance?
-- Peter in Oregon.
Wes Shivers: Yeah, I was shocked. I felt like I controlled
the fight enough to where I should have gotten the decision. If not
that, I should have gotten the third round. I’ve watched it several
times, and every time I watch it, it upsets me even more, but I can
only be upset with myself because anytime you let it go to the
judges, you deserve what you get. I had plenty of opportunities to
finish the fight and I didn’t get it done.
The outcome of it, it did shock me, and according to what I’m hearing it shocked pretty much everybody that’s watched it.
As far as my performance, I was pleased. I wasn’t pleased with my cardio. I felt like I was in pretty good shape when I went out (to the show). I didn’t take into consideration the altitude difference and then the fact I only got to train one training session and about a three-mile jog that day before the fight to try and get acclimated, which wasn’t enough time. I guess a bunch of factors played out in me gassing out pretty quick. That’s just the way it goes, but the one thing you can’t take from me is my heart. There were plenty of times where somebody else could have folded up and said, ‘I can’t do it anymore,’ but I kept fighting and I honestly felt like I did enough to win the fight.
