Suspended UFC Flyweight Jeff Molina Releases Statement Following Video Leak

Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight Jeff Molina is the victim of extremely unfortunate circumstances.

On Thursday, an intimate video leaked involving Molina. As rumor spread, on Friday morning, Molina released a statement on Twitter where he came out as bisexual, while expressing his disappointment that he was forced out against his will. While there are openly gay and LGBTQ women on the UFC roster, Molina is the first male UFC fighter to publicly come out. Molina (11-2) was a top-15 flyweight with the promotion, who is currently under suspension for his involvement with the James Krause betting scandal.

Molina’s statement reads as follows:

“Welp.. this f---ing sucks

“TLDR: im bi

“Not the way I wanted to do this but the chance to do it when I was ready was taken from me. I’ve tried to keep my dating life private from social media. I’ve dated girls my whole life and suppressed feelings I had throughout high school being on the wrestling team, throughout college pursuing MMA, and even after making part of the dream happen and getting into the UFC.

“I’m a pretty masculine dude and that bro-y banter and sus sense of humor has always been how I am. The thought of my buddies, teammates and [people] I look up to looking at me different let alone treating me different for something I can’t control was something I couldn’t fathom. In a sport like this where a majority of the fans being the homophobic c---suckers they are I didn’t see myself doing this during this part of my career. I wanted to be known for my skills and what I’ve dedicated the last 11 of years of my life to and not the ‘bi UFC fighter’ that I’m sure would just be translated to ‘gay UFC fighter.’

“To the awful disturbed person that decided to post this ishh I hope it was worth it.

“At the end of the day I know my character, morals, and who I am as a person. As much as I’m getting hated/sh--ted on I’m getting an equal amount of support & it means a f--k ton.”

Molina worked his way up the regional circuit in the Missouri, area, eventually stringing a six-finish streak together to earn a place on the 2020 season of Dana White's Contender Series. A victory over Jacob Silva secured the Olathe, Kansas, native a contract with the UFC. Making his organizational debut in 2021, “El Jefe” claimed a decision over Qileng Aori at UFC 261. Since then, Moline rattled off a pair of victories over Daniel da Silva and Zhalgas Zhumagulov to run his win streak to 10 and temporarily reach the no. 14 spot on the UFC 125-pound rankings.

Molina is currently suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission due to his connection with former Glory MMA & Fitness coach Krause. Molina participated in Krause’s betting service, and even sought out potential bettors to sign up for their services and takeovers. The fighter claimed that, “In stocks, this is called insider trading, in MMA betting, it’s called James Krause.” While still technically a member of the UFC roster, Molina will not be offered a fight until the conclusion of the investigation undertaken by the promotion, the commission and multiple betting integrity firms.
