Preview: PFL 2025 World Tournament 4
Davis vs. Wilkinson
The Professional Fighters League on Thursday will return from an off week with PFL 2025 World Tournament 4 at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Heavyweights and light heavyweights are set to battle it out for spots in the semifinals on a loaded card full of world-class competitors.
In the light heavyweight main event, four-time NCAA All-American and former Bellator MMA titleholder Phil Davis squares off with 2022 PFL champion Rob Wilkinson. The heavyweight co-headliner sees Russian powerhouses Valentin Moldavsky and Sergey Bilostenniy lock horns in a showdown that could produce a highlight-reel finish at any time.

In his heyday, Davis was one of the most athletic light heavyweights to grace an MMA cage. Blessed with long limbs and world-class wrestling skills, Davis is a difficult problem for anybody he faces. He boasts wins over Alexander Gustafsson, Lyoto Machida, Glover Teixeira, Yoel Romero and many other stars. Davis hasn’t fought since 2023 but looked impressive despite his split decision loss to Corey Anderson. Wilkinson is three years removed from his PFL championship run, but the 6-foot-3 Australian is far from his best days. Wilkinson advanced to the PFL semifinals last season but fell short to Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov by decision. “Razor Rob” is known for his powerful combinations but has a dangerous ground game, as well.
Wilkinson comes into this bout as the younger opponent and carries advantages in power and finishing ability. Davis hasn’t recorded a stoppage since 2019 and is likely to depend heavily on his wrestling skills. Davis has never been stopped despite sharing the cage with much better strikers, and Wilkinson is no different. If Davis can take him to the ground, he should have his way with the Australian, but he will still need to remain wary of Wilkinson’s submission game. This matchup is a unique clash of styles that could favor either fighter throughout the night, but Davis’ experience and wrestling acumen are too impressive to ignore. Expect this one to go the distance, with “Mr. Wonderful” getting his hand raised in victory.
